The Villages is one of the largest retirement communities in the US – 2018 consensus estimated that their Florida location had 128,750 total residents. It even had a documentary made about it called “Some Kind of Heaven” which was released in 2021.

The campus is made up of 17 special purpose Community Development Districts (or CDD). There are three town squares (Brownwood, Spanish Springs & Lake Sumter) – each location has its own stores, restaurants, and open-air plazas featuring free nightly entertainment.

A centerpiece at The Villages is its variety of golf courses. Residents agree that the ability to play “Free Golf for Life” is a major part of The Villages advertising campaigns. As of February 2019 The Villages operates 50 golf courses.

The Mayflower is a super popular 55+ retirement community. For over three decades they have set the standard for senior living in Central Florida – the facility offers elegant living, world-class amenities, and peace of mind in a picturesque, resort-style environment.

Residents have regular access to doctors and licensed nurses; from basic health check-ups to physical therapy, or post-operative rehab. Specialized staff includes a director of physical therapy, occupational and physical therapists, speech pathologist, lymphedema therapist, and specialists certified in LSVT for for treating Parkinson’s.

Amenities include: Concierge desk, on-site beauty salon, large in-ground pool, on-site banking, wellness clinic, an executive chef, and restaurant-style fine dining.

Vi at Aventura Senior Living

Vi at Aventura is a senior facility just outside Miami, Florida.

As a senior community they have a dedicated team of caregivers who work 24/7 and a licensed skilled always on staff.

Residents say the senior apartments are bigger than expected. You can choose between a studio, 1-3 bedroom, or villa – each includes a walk-in closet, multiple safety rails, and rooms come with an emergency alert system.

Resort-style amenities too — an indoor swimming pool, fine dining (with an executive chef), art studio, and tons of daily social activities. Best of all it is a pet friendly assisted living facility!
